Golding Projects history and story
Golding Projects history and story
Fourth generation home builder
Examples of the Goldings’ work can been seen all over Adelaide, from the heritage Spanish Mission home on Fisher Street, Fullarton built by Terry’s great grandfather Leonard to the hundreds of homes built brick by brick by Terry’s grandfather Kenneth & sons Milton & Bruce (Terry’s father) to the many extensions, upgrades & new homes built by Terry himself in and around Norwood, Kensington, Walkerville & Eastern suburbs in recent years. A lot of our clients are 2nd and 3rd repeat clients and much of our work is spread by word of mouth.
The Keys to Continued Success
Golding Projects believe the secret to our continued business success is due to the following attributes:
Trust | Practical, Hands On Approach | Organisation | Value
A lot of the work we undertake is the result of word of mouth referrals from our happy clients. Our business is based on the highest levels of ethics and trust, and we see referrals as the highest compliment we can receive for our work. Many of our existing clients have worked with us two or three times, and we value the trust they have in us to work with them again,
Integration of Energy Efficient principles
All our projects are built to the highest standard with energy efficiency in mind. With rising energy costs a continuing burden on home and business it is important that your home is efficient for the variable South Australian climate. Improvements in insulation, glazing, floor heating as well as wall and floor coverings have come a long way in the past decade. Building an energy efficient home will save you money and our team is very experienced in the buildability of energy efficient homes and renovations.
Golding Projects proud history of building in Adelaide
Leonard Golding (1884 – 1967)
Leonard, an accomplished award winning architect and builder, practiced from Grenfell Street in the city.
Undoubtedly his greatest professional achievement was the Spanish Mission home he designed and built in Fisher Street, Fullarton (see below).
This home was the first of its kind in Adelaide and featured in many publications and photographs. It was held in the Golding family until just recently.
Kenneth Golding (1909 – 2005)
A bricklayer by trade, Kenneth had two sons: Milton and Bruce (Ben and Terry’s father). Tradesmen in these days had to be tough and Ken was not afraid of hard work. He instilled these qualities in his boys before retiring from building when he was 69.

Bruce Golding (1943 – present)
Father of Ben and Terry, Bruce retired in 2004 after 47 years in the building industry! After leaving school in his teens he worked with his brother & father as a bricklayer. Bruce quickly obtained his builders licence (#908) developing & building homes all over Adelaide & on the South Coast having moved the family to Victor Harbor in the late 70’s. With wife Beverley they were one of the first in South Australia to privately recognise the need for retirement accommodation and set about building ‘Bay Village’ in Victor Harbor (126 units). A move to Adelaide eventually led to the construction of ‘Langton Park Retirement Village’ (110 units) in Campbelltown; ‘Gables of St Morris’ (40 units) and various other small groups of retirement units & client homes in the eastern suburbs of Adelaide. Bruce employed and worked with his sons for over 15 years. Bruce is still often seen and welcome on building sites today for his experience and valuable knowledge.
Terry Golding (1970 – present)
It’s fair to say all Terry wanted to do was be a builder like his Dad, grandfather & great grandfather – naturally it’s in his blood! Terry worked on the building sites in his school holidays during primary, high school & during his time at University (graduating with an Associate Diploma in the Built Environment at Uni SA). Now married to Rebecca they have two sons Will (15) and Sam (13) – it begs the question could their sons be fifth generation builders?
Terry benefitted from developing a broad skill base when working in the small family business from labouring to administration (estimating, contract administration & accounts) He is very hands-on doing most of his own labouring, site cleaning, supervising, client liaison & administration. He loves a challenge particularly those that are associated with working on renovating & extending old houses!
After working with Golding Projects for over 20 years on various projects, David joined the team full time in early 2017. David is the Project / Site Manager, and brings a wealth of experience to the Golding Projects team.
