OUR STORY

Golding Projects is built on four generations of family tradition in Adelaide’s building industry. From Leonard Golding, an award-winning architect in the early 1900s, through decades of dedicated builders and craftsmen, the Golding name has long been associated with quality and integrity. Today, Terry Golding leads the business with a passion for building and strong client relationships, supported by long-time colleague Dave and the next generation, Will and Sam. Blending heritage with modern expertise, Golding Projects continues to create homes that reflect innovation, care, and a commitment to delivering exceptional outcomes for every client.

Sam

Leonard Golding, an accomplished award-winning architect and builder, practised from Grenfell Street in the city. One of Terry’s most prized possessions is his great grandfather’s nameplate from the early 1900s.

Undoubtedly Leonards greatest professional achievement was the Spanish Mission home he designed and built in Fisher Street, Fullarton. This home was the first of its kind in Adelaide and featured in many publications and photographs. It was held in the Golding family until just recently.

A bricklayer by trade, Ken had two sons: Milton and Bruce (Terry’s father). Tradesmen in these days had to be tough and Ken was not afraid of hard work. He instilled these qualities in his boys before retiring from building when he was 69.

Terry’s father, Bruce retired in 2004 after 47 years in the building industry! After leaving school in his teens he worked with his brother & father as a bricklayer. Bruce quickly obtained his builder’s licence (#908) building & developing homes all over Adelaide & on the South Coast having moved the family to Victor Harbor in the late ’70s. With wife Beverley, they were one of the first in South Australia to privately recognise the need for retirement accommodation and set about building ‘Bay Village’ in Victor Harbor (126 units).

A move to Adelaide eventually led to the construction of ‘Langton Park Retirement Village’ (110 units) in Campbelltown; ‘Gables of St Morris’ (40 units) and various other small groups of retirement units & client homes in the eastern suburbs of Adelaide. Bruce employed and worked with his sons for over 15 years. Bruce is still often seen and welcome on building sites today for his experience and valuable knowledge.

It’s fair to say all Terry wanted to do was be a builder like his Dad, grandfather & great grandfather! Terry worked on the building sites in his school holidays during primary, high school & during his time at University (graduating with an Associate Diploma in the Built Environment at UniSA).

Terry just loves building. He loves working with clients from the first meeting, sharing their excitement in transforming and building something from a design to the handover! He loves the practical and dynamic nature of the industry. From asking Terry what keeps him passionate about his business after all these years, he says “It’s building relationships with clients, consultants, suppliers, subcontractors & delivering outcomes that people want to share that positive experience.”

Terry now owns and manages the business and loves the diversity of running a small building company. Married to Rebecca, they have 2 sons, Will & Sam. Will, who is following in the family tradition is studying Construction Management & Sam is currently studying a Bachelor of Business at the University of South Australia.

Dave was born to work in the industry. Dave’s father, Ross, worked for Terry’s father, Bruce, and has been a part of the Golding Projects family for over 30 years. Dave began working as an apprentice carpenter under his father, and today works alongside Terry as the site construction manager. Dave is extremely hands-on, with everything from demolition and carpentry, to supervision, problem-solving, and client liaising.

Dave has been a tremendous teacher for Will when it comes to building on his knowledge of residential building, and good building practices, which is something university simply cannot teach. Not only does Dave have a wealth of knowledge, but he is hard-working, is very well-respected among subcontractors, suppliers, clients, and of course, the Golding family.

Will began his construction journey working alongside Terry and Dave during his school holidays, gaining valuable on site experience from an early age. Following in the footsteps of his father and grandfathers, he always knew he wanted to pursue a career in building.

After completing four years of labouring while studying, Will graduated with a Construction Management degree from the University of South Australia. He has since taken his career overseas and now works in commercial construction in London, further developing his expertise on large-scale projects.

Sam

Sam combines practical on-site experience with marketing knowledge to bring a unique perspective to the building industry. Currently completing a Bachelor of Business at the University of South Australia, he has worked alongside Dave whilst completing his degree, supporting trades and gaining first-hand knowledge of how projects come together.

Beyond the tools, Sam leads the company’s marketing efforts, developing content, managing the brand, and ensuring the business continues to stand out in a competitive industry. His mix of construction knowledge and business acumen positions him strongly for a future at the intersection of building and business.
